Circuit Court Judge Division Five
Judge Shaw - the right choice. Again.

Judge Shaw - the right choice. Again.
I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. I am one of seven children; all of whom still reside here. I went to Sacred Heart Academy. I am a graduate of the University of Louisville. I hold an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene, a Bachelor‘s of Science in Sciences, and a Juris Doctor.
Before taking the bench in January of 2007, I was a Circuit Court Staff Attorney for sixteen plus years. As a staff attorney, I researched the law and drafted opinions for circuit court judges. I was also a District Court Trial Commissioner for over eleven of those years, setting bail, hearing emergency protective orders and emergency custody orders, and reviewing probate settlements.
I have been the Circuit Judge in Division Five of Jefferson Circuit Court for over fifteen years and love my job. I always treat everyone that comes into my courtroom with respect and without bias. As a circuit judge, I hear felony criminal cases, civil matters involving disputes of more than $5,000.00, administrative appeals, and District Court appeals.
Several years ago, I had the pleasure of sitting as a juror on a criminal jury trial, and it was fascinating to see the court system from a different perspective.
For the last fourteen plus years, I have volunteered as a Drug Court Judge helping people overcome addiction to drugs and alcohol, which has been very rewarding.
